Ford announces new E-Tourneo Custom
Ford today announces the all-new E-Tourneo Custom – which is the flagship of the next-generation Tourneo multi-activity vehicle and features an advanced all-electric powertrain.
Raising the bar in the multi-activity vehicle segment, the E-Tourneo Custom combines a new platform designed to deliver maximum versatility and comfort with a highly efficient all-electric powertrain capable of delivering a driving range of up to 370 km according to WLTP.
The Tourneo Custom is one of four new all-electric Ford models to be launched in Europe in 2024, targeting both private and business customers and offering generous space for up to eight passengers.
The new model introduces a full suite of premium features, including ultra-flexible track-mounted rear seats, hands-free electric motorized side doors, B&O audio system, digital key cards, panoramic glass roof – and an innovative tilting steering wheel.
Comfort levels are further enhanced by the superior vehicle dynamics that come via next-generation vehicle design. Quiet electric propulsion and a new level of ride comfort and stability are offered by the optimized chassis architecture with independent rear suspension.
As part of the most extensive Tourneo Custom range ever, customers can also choose an all-new Plug-In Hybrid (PHEV) version for situations where additional flexibility is required. In addition, the new model can be specified with the latest generation of Ford EcoBlue diesel engines, available with a new highly efficient eight-speed automatic transmission and – for the first time – an intelligent all-wheel drive system.
Tourneo Custom models with EcoBlue diesel engines are scheduled to reach customers from mid-2023, with additional variants available later in the year. Se more available electric cars.
Superior EV performance
Using the same battery technology as the Ford F-150 Lightning in a 74 kWh battery, with a 160 kW electric motor, the E-Tourneo Custom will deliver exceptional performance. The car’s all-electric powertrain also offers single-pedal driving for even greater energy efficiency and a more relaxed and comfortable driving experience.
A built-in 11 kW AC three-phase charger can fully charge the battery in less than eight hours, and a 15-80 percent charge takes 41 minutes with a 125 kW DC fast charger. The E-Tourneo Custom’s charging profile front-loads the energy to enable fast top-ups. In laboratory tests, using a 125 kW DC fast charger, the range increased by almost 38 km in just five minutes.
Offering a maximum towing weight of 2,000 kg along with a generous payload (depending on the car’s configuration), the E-Tourneo Custom helps adventurous owners transport friends, family and sports equipment with ease, and helps business owners transport customers and their luggage efficiently.
Pro Power Onboard technology also enables customers to fully exploit the potential of Tourneo Custom’s electrified variants, which deliver up to 2.3 kW through sockets in the front cabin – ideal for powering digital devices, tools or sports and camping equipment when they are off the grid.
Designed for space and comfort – with flexible seating and luxury features
The new Tourneo Custom has been developed to offer passengers significantly improved levels of comfort and convenience, with a sleek new interior design that delivers superior levels of craftsmanship and material quality, and a cabin packed with premium features and technologies.
The optimized vehicle platform ensures generous space in the passenger compartment regardless of whether it is all-electric, plug-in hybrid or combustion powertrains. Standard and long-wheelbase models each offer three rows of seating, with up to eight seats in the E-Tourneo Custom and a maximum of nine seats in the Tourneo Custom PHEV and EcoBlue diesel-powered models.
The improved interior starts with a flexible new track-mounted seating system in the second and third rows, for maximum adaptability when the cabin is arranged to provide optimal space for people and their belongings. The new system allows customers to slide the seats forward or backward along tracked rails into the floor of the rear compartment, or to lift the seats completely. The three seats in the second row can each be moved independently, while the seats in the third row are divided into two-seaters and single-seaters.
